SINGLE REVIEW: You Are Love by Jason Kerrison – August 15, 2025
Single Review By Music Journalist Paul Marshall.
Jason Kerrison’s “You Are Love” – A Quiet, Heartfelt Masterpiece.
From the first, sparse tones of Jason Kerrison’s “You Are Love,” there's an intimate hush, like dawn’s light slipping through drawn curtains, that announces this is not a song in need of fireworks. Co-produced by Kerrison and guitarist-turned-producer Tim Skedden, whose roots stretch back to The Feelers and collaborative work with Kerrison in The Babysitters Circus, this track derives its power from subtlety and sincerity.
Opening with minimalist instrumentation, just enough to voice that early-morning quiet, “You Are Love” invites you in like gentle sun rays stretching across a still room. It’s a gracious start for a song that places feeling first, texture second, and restraint at the centre.
Kerrison penned the song as a tribute to resilience, specifically honouring his partner and the mother of their child, Aurora. The lyrics bend with a delicate honesty through life’s emotional undercurrents. Lines like:
“But you don’t have to listen
‘Cause you’ve heard it all before
There’s nothing new that’s come to your door
You’ve heard it all before…”
…build into the haunting affirmation at the chorus: “You Are Love.” It’s both a mantra and a lifeline.
This isn't your typical pop song engineered to dominate the charts. Kerrison sidesteps gimmicks with grace. Instead, he offers something richer: a quiet gem of emotional truth, built on craftsmanship and heartfelt depth. It’s music that asks you to lean in, not bolt upright.
“You Are Love” feels like a personal, emotional letter set to melody. It speaks to reassurance, self-worth, and emotional release. For long-time fans and newcomers alike, it's a reminder that sometimes the most potent art is the kind that whispers, not shouts.
On this beautifully release, Kerrison doesn’t chase trends. He crafts something enduring and true. This is more than a pop song; it’s a quiet declaration of love’s quiet strength.
For me, this is a hook-driven track that grows brighter with every spin, so hit repeat and soak up the rays of Kerrison’s finely-crafted, emotion-rich songwriting. Like your favourite coffee, it’s something you can’t help but keep sipping until the very last drop… and then you’ll order another, chasing that warm, euphoric buzz this track delivers time and time again.
My Verdict: 5 out of 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 flawless.
